The Haiku Pathway is a one-of-a-kind in New Zealand. Featuring 27 river boulders engraved with haiku poems, the pathway meanders either side of Uretara Stream and forms a peaceful park in the heart of town. It is the largest collection of haiku “stones” in English and thought to be the largest outside Japan.

The poems have been specially chosen to reflect their location and feature work by poets from New Zealand and overseas. There are also three poem boulders at The Landing. Guidebooks to the pathway, which include a map, are available from Katikati Information Centre and Katikati Craft Shop.
