We have our main street flag competition underway at the moment. I have had several queries regarding entries so I am looking forward to them coming in before 19th July. Details for entries are on our website.
Katch Katikati is interested in looking into the feasibility of establishing a main entrance to the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park in the Katikati area and making the most of our wonderful walks and history. To date some work has been done by Doc and WBOPDC however we would like to see if we can take it one (or two) steps further. We have asked for interested people to let us know and we will pursue it with the other parties.
Tourism is an area where Katikati can benefit from more exposure, to assist with this we are inviting Tourism Bay of Plenty marketing team and the I-Site staff from Mt Maunganui and Tauranga to come and be updated of what Katikati has to offer. This will be in September just before the next tourist season starts. If you are in the tourism industry we will be in contact with you soon with details.
As always, we need information on events coming up. We are building a community group database so if you don’t currently receive an email from us weekly please let us know your details so that we can keep in contact. There are a lot of events in Katikati and to enable good attendance at them we don’t want to overlap. We have a calendar of events on the www.katikati.org.nz website that needs more information. Please tell us what is going on in your organisation. Katch Katikati is here to support our community groups.
Finally and by no means least a really big thank you to all the businesses who supported the Katikati Rugby and Sports Club 130 year anniversary with dressing up their businesses. See it just proves what a great little town we are.
