The Katikati Craft & Mural Centre is a co-operative venture, established in 1991, to showcase and promote local arts and crafts.

In 1991, when Katikati was facing tough times, a group of volunteers formed Katikati Open-Air Art Incorporated. They aimed to cheer up the locals and attract visitors by painting Katikati’s history on the walls of the town.
